White & Pink

The beautiful Ghazi Building, now occupied by the Directorate General of Archeology, was recently repainted in white and pink. Next to it is Fadlallah Al-Basrawi Mosque, that dates back to 1824 and the ugly "Damascus Tower" that was constructed in the mid-1980s.

well this is Damascus: destroy the precious and build the ugly!

Something in "ugly "Damascus Tower"" made me laugh! it is just so true!
Anyway, Ghalia is right. They are beatiful historic buildings indeed.

It's also intelligent. In fact, if you hide the upper part of Ghazi you will find that the rest of the building is “ordinary”. Well, I guess being intelligent makes it more beautiful in my eyes.

Another nice pic. I couldn't help but notice the high numbers of window air conditioner units, which further add to the ugliness of the tower. I don't understand why central AC is uncommon in Syria?

I heard there is a Jasmine campaign going on in Damascus. Ayman can you please post something about it.

I really like this shot.

And yes that tower is ugly.

that is pretty :) I do love the colors! Did you see Egypt's Ancient Egyptian archeological museum? for some reason, this reminded me a lot of that, except this is tastefully done while that is just an ugly shade of plum plastered so tastelessly on a building that could have looked so nice...
